The Diepeschrather Mühle, with its roots in the Middle Ages, combines history with modernity. Once an important watermill in the Bergisches Land region, today it has been transformed into a very special retreat.

"At this location, I am following my vision of combining enjoyment and hospitality with sustainability and nature."

Nelson Mülller

According to the old chronicle of Diepeschrather Mühle, the mill was founded in 1653, where grain and mustard seeds were ground, Bergisch country bread was baked and homemade schnapps was served to guests.
In 1911, the mill was completely destroyed by a major fire. Twelve years later, master roofer Theodor Greis was commissioned to re-roof the present-day property. He noticed a small stand with two benches, where non-alcoholic drinks were later sold for hikers from Cologne. After several extensions and renovations, this small stand became the "Cafe Diepeschrather Mühle" restaurant, where famous guests such as former German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer, who described the Diepeschrather Mühle as his "second living room", refreshed themselves.

After many years of loving restoration work by the Cologne-based building contractor Werner Arenz, an impressive ensemble of a 4-star superior hotel with a natural swimming pool, restaurants, event areas, terraces and conservatory was created in the middle of the nature reserve. The former café has been renovated to house the Michelin-starred restaurant "Schote".

The Diepeschrather Mühle is a place where the historical ambience remains tangible, while modern architecture and sustainability have been perfectly integrated. A gem of cheerful and natural luxury, which will be managed by Nelson Müller from 2025.
